Who We Are

“Our mission is to work with the community to conserve and protect the beauty and health of the Kinnickinnic River and its watershed.”

The Kinnickinnic River Land Trust (KRLT) is a community based land trust dedicated to working with the community to conserve and protect the beauty and health of the Kinnickinnic River and its watershed.

Based in River Falls, Wisconsin, we work in cooperation with landowners, private organizations, and governmental units to conserve the resources we value – clean water, wildlife, recreation, natural areas, wild trout, scenic beauty, and family farms.

KRLT is a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization and donations (membership dues, cash gifts, stock gifts, property, or development rights) can qualify the donor for a Federal Income Tax deduction. Since our founding in 1993, the KRLT has grown to over 600 members and we have protected more than 2,800 acres and over 9.5 miles of river bank.

In May, 2009, the KRLT received national accreditation by the Land Trust Accreditation Commission.  The KRLT was the first Wisconsin land trust to be awarded this national accreditation and among the first 60 land trusts in the nation to receive this coveted designation. In February, 2015, the KRLT was the first Wisconsin land trust to renewed this national accreditation.

We invite you to join us in our efforts to protect this beautiful watershed of the Kinnickinnic River!
