October 12, 2019 – Easement Monitoring Training

Every year the KRLT visits each of its three owned preserves and 34 conservation easement properties to compare the current conditions with the baseline document for that property and the previous year’s monitoring visit. The monitoring is one of the most important land trust responsibilities of the KRLT. Without a solid commitment to monitor, defend and enforce its conservation requirements, the KRLT’s land protection accomplishments may be lost over time. Additionally, if the KRLT fails to meet its legal and ethical stewardship obligations, the public confidence in land conservation will be damaged.

We are asking for volunteers to help with this year’s preserve and conservation easement monitoring. Generally we like to use two volunteers to do each monitoring. NO EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED but familiarity with maps, aerial photos and field navigation is helpful.

MONITORING ACTIVITIES

Our monitoring activities will be conducted from Sunday, October 13 through Saturday, October 26.

The time it takes to monitor a property is typically less than two hours.

CLASSROOM AND FIELD TRAINING – Saturday, October 12

Classroom Training

Time: 9:30 a.m. – 10:15 a.m.

Location: St. Croix Business Innovation Center – Training Room
