What Is Easement Monitoring?

KRLT visits each of its 3 preserves and 34 conservation easements each year to evaluate their current conditions. The monitoring is one of the most important land trust responsibilities and ensures that conservation goals are being upheld.

We are looking for volunteers, who will spend 1-4 hours serving as the eyes and ears for the KRLT.
NO EXPERIENCE REQUIRED, but familiarity with maps, aerial photos, and field navigation is helpful.

Saturday, October 12th

Classroom Training
Time: 9:30 a.m. – 10:15 a.m.
Location: St. Croix Business Innovation Center – Training Room
Coffee and pastries will be provided.
After completion of the Classroom Training, we will carpool from The Business Innovation Center to the site for Field Training.

Field Training
Time: 10:30 a.m. – noon
This field training allows everyone to observe/participate in an actual monitoring of one of our conservation easements.
The time it takes to monitor a property is typically less than two hours.
