In Memory of Roberta Johnson

June 9, 2018 by Molly Barritt Leave a Comment

It is with a heavy heart that the KRLT family shares with you news of the passing of one of our great KRLT friends and a strong supporter of the KRLT mission, Roberta Ann Johnson. Roberta and her husband Lyle placed their farm, just west of River Falls, into a conservation easement with the KRLT in 2007. In 2012 they worked with the KRLT on a protected land swap of a parcel of their land with the School District of River Falls to complete the current School Forest area.

Roberta loved the land that made up their farm, and the river that runs through it. During the negotiations to finalize the land swap, Roberta said it wasn’t a case of giving up some of their land, it was leaving a legacy of conservation for the students of River Falls. She was very proud of the fact that the land that they farmed for 60 years would be protected…forever.

Thank you, Roberta. Thank you, Lyle.
